New Normal in ITCZ and Its Role in Altering Agroclimatic Suitability for Rice Production

Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) primarily governs the convective rainfall potential of summer monsoon in Asia. In present study, non-parametric trend test with outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) for period last 42 years (1980–2021) have been analyzed ITCZ zone, representative zones Hadley circulation and Walker exploring deep convection activity. Besides, various climatic variables like temperature (maximum, minimum, mean), precipitation, cloud cover dataset are used major rice growing regions world. The results indicate that there is a significantly decreasing OLR zone during season. Contrarily, world witnessed increasing parameter among all zones. Rainfall shown typical i.e., but Southeast Asian Maritime Continent regions. suitable climate assessment, it has found region, Indo-Gangetic Plain better climates than other (1980–2021).
